This is a very heartwarming book. The author dives you right into Doris' ,(the main characters), modern day world. Doris a 96 year old women, has a hard time getting around, content in her ways, in her apartment. Doris' modern day story starts off tragic. Then the author blends her past into the book, using Doris' address book. Doris' past is poetic, lived, adventurous, sad, lovely, romantic, and more.

The first half of the book was enjoyable. However, I love the second half more. With each chapter I grew with Doris and got to know each person that touched her life or she touched them. I loved how Doris' thought she was spontaneous in life but some of her decisions were just plan stupid. I liked the emotion I felt for Doris. I felt a great connection with her towards the ending. Her heart got to me, so kind.

I didn't like a few parts regarding certain situations. I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't give details. However, those parts didn't change my liking of the book.

Overall, I give the first half 3 stars because, although it was good. The second half hit me. Made me keep reading. Made me want more. So I give the second half 4 stars. I was so glad I read this book! Loved author Lundberg's writing style. I'd also love to see a book of letters that Doris and Gosta wrote to each other! That would be wonderful.
