The first chapter I wasn't very interested or entertained. I didn't like reading about an old person suffering and sad and it just didn't draw me in, until it switched time periods to 1928- then I was interested.
I liked the chapters that went back in time because I love historical fiction and now I know more about the character in present and past time. I think the author does a good job describing things in details so you can imagine what things look like.
It seems like a book that is about a hard life, sadness and what made the old person who they are today. It seems to start getting intense toward the end of the excerpt so I am wondering now what will happen to the character. I liked the title and the book cover too.
