Doris is 96 years old and living alone. She knows her death is coming soon and so she begins going through her address book and remembering all of the people who were important to her during her long life. She writes her memories down for Jenny, the only relative she now has. While I did like the story and was moved by it, it is really sad and morbid. Doris spends most of the book talking about her death. The best parts of the book for me were the glimpses we get of Doris' past and her adventures in Paris and the stories of an artist that became such an important person in her life. The book is well written and the story interesting, I would definitely recommend it. Definitely not for anyone looking for a light, entertaining read though.
