This book sounds like just the type I love - history interwoven with a strong personal story, and intergenerational wisdom being passed from one generation to another. The ironic thing about it is that my own mother has a had the same red address book through my entire life and I'm sure that looking through the names in it would take me on my own trip down our family's memory lane.
