While romance is not my typical genre, I enjoy reading it now and then to "mix things up" in my reading. I thought Selena and Knox's backstories were excellent and well-written. I always wanted them to find true happiness because they had both been through so much in their lives.

The starting with Will's funeral was the one thing that perplexed me the most. Knox remained with Selena to defend her, but nothing happened after that, and the funeral was lost in the shuffle. I really didn't like how soon the story ended. Selena seemed to find out she was pregnant, and then a lot happened in ten pages, and then it was over.

It could have been easier if it had been more evenly distributed. It was a fast read that was enjoyable as a break from my other reading.

Only after delving deeper into the characters, especially Knox's fear of moving on after a tragedy, did The Rancher's Baby feel like it was finally about something.
