First I just want to say that the setting in this novel was not as strong as a lot of YA Fantasy’s are. It wasn’t very descriptive and I had a hard time getting into the world the author built. However, the storyline was good! I actually really liked the romance between Shadow and Cal. Once the story started picking up I was completely invested. Also, there was some major foreshadowing of what was going to happen to shadow at the end but the author did a great job of steering you on the other direction. I knew it was going to happen l, but I kept second guessing myself! I was freaking out because of the way the novel ended but I am glad to know this is just the first book in the series! Overall this was a quick and easy read!
