Melissa De La Cruz created a world that was well thought out with fully rounded characters. When reading I thought the writing was similar to Sarah J Maas' Fae series, so fans of Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses will probably love this one like I did. Without spoiling any of the surprise twists and turns that the novel has, the romance in this book was amazing and not forced or too fast-paced. Having read the author's other books I can easily say this one was one of my favorites she has done so far. This novel is full of interesting characters and funny assassins, wonderful magic and intense battles and very well-kept secrets by the characters. Not everything is as it seems in this one.
