The beginning of this book was a bit meh for me. I found the world building to be confusing and rushed. From the moment we met Shadow, I knew what her secret was. The plot was definitely interesting, but I didn't really feel a connection to the characters. The relationship felt a bit rushed and not complete.
This book had the potential for some amazing action and thrill, but I feel it fell short. However, it was partially saved by the ending. Throughout the beginning of the book, I didn't think I was going to pick up the second book once it came out, but the ending left me with questions I want answered. I just really hope that there is a ton of character development in the next installment.
