I didn't even want to read this excerpt because I knew I'b be hung up over it. I am really excited about the world-bulding. That's one of the things I love the most about this genre and this beggining really set the bar high for me. Hopefully, I will get to see this world being expanded throughout the novel.
Also, I have to mention Shadow. I am really excited about the arc of this protagonist. Added bonus for the fact of her being an assassin and a "sorceress" .This magical combination, when done right, is bound the get me hooked right from the start.
And, of course, I can't wait to see Shadow's and Cal story unravel. I'd say, along with the world-building, this is one of the things I am really looking forward in this book.
Also I have to mention how gorgeous this cover is! The blood dripping effect on the letters, actually reminded of Victoria's Aveyard Red Queen cover. Can't wait to read it!
