Out of the two other first impression previews, this one was the only one where the action started early. The first few pages were background about the realm, but it was intriguing nonetheless. The chapter titles showed differing character names and thus tells me that there will be multiple point of views.
The character Shadow starts off with a running scene. She is trying to escape something or someone. This is interesting as one can get to know her as she tries to escape and hide from whatever if waiting outside.
This was a good start, and while the cover is not appealing to me, I suspect it actually may have something to do with the plot later on (hopefully). I am curious to see what will happen in the further pages.
