Magic & Political Intrigue - Sign Me Up!

I appreciate the first few pages that set up the fantasy world that we are diving into and give us a clear history right from the start. It is clear that, despite this story being set in a fantasy world with magic, the political dynamics and power struggles are all too relatable. Once we shift from the past to the present, we are drawn in to a first person account that has us feeling like we are in the middle of the scene. I'm really obsessed with this world and this story already; I need to read the rest of the book!
