Magic and Assassins - A Perfect Combo

The prologue did a great job setting up the history of this world and the tone for the story. Backstabbing, power hungry, magic hidden away - we know this from the blurb and we see this play out in the prologue. It makes me wonder if history will repeat itself in the present time where we follow our main characters.
