I was really excited to read this excerpt, but I found myself disappointed. First, I don't like it when in a fantasy book I can't keep up with all of the different regions and people because the world building is too complicated. And instead of easing us into it, the author dumps it all on the page at once which was overwhelming. And, I don't really love the trope of being "different from other girls" because that is so cliched and overdone.
