Immediately Immersive - This is a world I want to see more of!
The cover was intriguing, but until I read the exposition, I couldn't guess it's significance other than poison. The actuality - the blood vow- is more frightening than a poisoned chalice.
I was pulled into this world from the start, and I would love to read more! The hoarding of power, the subjugation of women, and keeping knowledge about magic from the people makes for a dynamic story backdrop with lots of potential intrigue. I love stories about witchy women with secret power. The Queen's Assassin promises to be good, and the hint of a Romeo and Juliet type relationship between two people where only one can survive should be more interesting than your typical YA romance. Besides, Shadow wants to be an assassin and spy! Very cool.
