For fans of "Red Queen" and "An Ember in the Ashes" ...
Epic fantasies are currently very popular in the YA collection at my public library, and, as the librarian, I am always looking for titles that balance action, adventure, romance, political intrigue, and original and detailed world-building. The Queen's Assassin looks like a great fit for teen fantasy fans. While we didn't get to the secondary POV (I'm assuming that Cal will have his own chapters), I think the dual POV chapters are a major plus, as they are in An Ember in the Ashes and Children of Blood and Bone, for example. I can't tell too much about the world-building just yet or the degree to which the characters represent diverse experiences, but the excerpt was a great start. I will definitely buy it for the YA collection.
