I love a good young adult fantasy book/series - there is so much inventive, unique stuff out there that stories like this, which starts with pages of italicized exposition and then begins without much originality, just fail to grip me. Maybe it's one of those books that takes a bit to get into, but I have so many other more interesting fantasy books on my list that this one feels too generic to invest my time in.
