This is a Young adult set in a Fantasy style setting. It had so much potential however I feel like it fell short. I loved the first half of the book, but it started going downhill and it totally lost me.
The whole concept of the poisoned water/lake intrigued me as well as the “world” the author put us in.
But like a typical YA book we had to add the love twist and honestly I could have done without…and we have yet another antsy teen who wants to question everything and everyone around her.
The sacrifices gave me an old world Viking feel which I liked as well, but that also ended up falling short for me.
The best part about this entire book was honestly the cover. Would have never picked it up otherwise. The writing was good and the initial plot, but it felt like one of those Young adult books that I have read before, I wasn’t invested in the characters or what actually happened to them in the end.
