I was really intrigued with the plot line and fantastical blend of magic and romance. But after completely the book, I thought it was just okay. The plot was unique, but kind of dragged in the middle. The romance was sweet and innocent, but was a very small presence in the book. I liked that we got a glimpse of the aftermath of Leelo's decision in the end, but even that seemed to drag on.

This was a very unique take on prejudice and stereotyping those that were Endlan versus those that were not. Hate is a powerful enforcer and the island of Endla is its prisoner.

I think if you like fantasy romances don't expect any spice from this one. I would say this was definitely G-rated to me. It was a very young adult take.

It was a good idea of a book and one that I had never read before, but it fell a little flat to me. I just don't think I am the target audience for this. Overall, I would give it 3.5⭐️
