Unfortunately, this book wasn't for me. I got exactly 50% through the book before making the decision to DNF. I get that the book is supposed to be a bit of a slower fantasy, really taking the time to set up the world and characters, and be a bit more cozy than action packed, but after reading half of it, I felt as if the story wasn't going anywhere. I felt that the characters were flat and didn't really have any real story to keep me engaged, and they weren't relatable at all. The plot was fine but I just wish it would've been a novella instead of a full length novel. It could've been wrapped up in way less pages than it was, and I'm really disappointed by it. The cover is stunning (all of Rutherford's covers are, though) and I feel like if you like cozy, witchy, slow, and not action packed at all fantasy, this would be a perfect read, but that isn't my thing, unfortunately.
