The writing style goes from formal to informal in a way that feels very inconsistent and the sheer number of things happening and what feels like nonstop dialogue after the Prologue is jarring and distracting.

So far I don't feel that there has been much in the way of either character development or development of the setting in which all the events are occurring - if I hadn't read the description of the book ahead of the excerpt I would have no idea what on earth is going on. I can't say I'm too keen on reading any more of this book as I feel it is targeted at a much, much younger (pre-teen?) audience than myself.

The cover is pretty but cheesy and cliche.
