I think the opening lines really convey the tone of the rest of the story. Opening with the perspective of the wolf really helps establish the primal, animalistic nature of the island that this story will be about. It absolutely gives off creepy, magical, cursed island vibes.

I was fortunate enough to read the ARC of this novel from a Goodreads giveaway, and I can say that the beginning absolutely sets the tone for a wild ride. It's creepy and atmospheric and beautiful, but in a way that's alarming.

I think the cover is absolutely stunning. I absolutely would (and did) read more to see how the dynamic between the Endlans and the outsiders evolves. I think this one will appeal to YA fans of dark fantasy, fairy tale re-tellings, and survival type books where the enemy can be the terrain itself, the people stranded there with you, or yourself. It definitely has Lord of the Flies vibes.
