This is definitely a spooky story. There is a society of magic people that do not tolerate outsiders. Nor do they tolerate their own people without magic after a certain age. They are expelled from the village. Also, the lake near the village is poisonous. Anything living that touches it dies. This provides a setting for a lot of potential horror and tradgedy.
