I was enthralled by the cover of the book, so I had to check it out. The first thing I noticed and enjoyed was the world-building and the rich depictions of the environment. The author does a great job at describing the locations in the excerpt- so much so that I can picture them easily. The book draws you in in the beginning by creating a scenario in which you feel like you need to know what is happening. Who are the watchers, the villagers? What is going on? There is a sense of tension and worry, but the explanation is withheld, encouraging me to read further. I want to read more, because I want to know what hardships Leelo will endure as a Watcher and what will be at stake.
