The cover is beautifully illustrated and is what first caught my eye about this story. I love the idea presented in the summary, it makes me wonder why Leelo's people live like they do and why Jaren would try to make his way through the lake.
When reading the sample, I wondered even more so why and how Jaren would make it across the poison lake. I wondered if Leelo will get the chance to choose to leave at all, or if she'd even want to. I liked both of their characters and how it presented the way the story could go (with Leelo's aversion to essentially punishing outsiders/those without magic & Jaren's skepticism of a poisoned lake and the other rumors floating around town).
