I love the magical atmosphere and world building in this book. It's told very naturally, and I felt like I was dropped right into this world with Leelo and her community. It's so cool to begin with that they live on an island on a poisoned lake and draw people unwittingly with their songs like sirens. They don't want to hurt people though, and so are strict with their rules, as seen in the last scene. It was so unnerving! The cover is a bit eerie too, but very pretty. Gives off the "poison" vibe well.
