Thank you to the author/publisher for my copy of this book that the review is based on.

I was really looking forward to "The Plot" and unfortunately was disappointed. As I began the book, I struggled to like/connect with the main character. Jacob "Finch" Bonner is a has-been writer who is extremely self involved, anxious, and just overall unlikeable. The first 250+ pages detail Jacob's professional life as an author. At one point, I though to myself, am I not enjoying this because I am not in the writing/publishing field?

As the book progressed, we are provided excerpts of the stolen plot, called "Crib". The "Crib" excerpts were my most liked part of the book. I also enjoyed the ~50 pages at the end of the book which was the thriller part of the story. However, for me, the thriller portion of the book was far outweighed by the literary profession details that were the focus of most of this book. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this book but hope others do!
