At the beginning of this book, Jake seems like an underdog. He is down on his luck and I really want to see him succeed. I am rooting for him, to get out of his writing slump, and to get out of the terrible office space in Richard Peng Hall where he seems to have been dumped by the college. How far will you go for success? Is it ethical or moral to write a book using the idea of someone who is no longer able to write it and who never will? These are all questions that Jake grapples with and that we get to grapple with as the reader.
