Burned out and hit rock bottom. Seems like Jake would do anything to get his life back in order and would do anything. An opportunity presents itself at the perfect time and he snatches it up. Good or bad choice? For now good but then later on it'll come back to haunt him and turn his life to shreds. I am interested to see how he finished the book when he was struggling himself. Seems like plagiarism at it's finest!
