What I like about “The Plot” so far is the oddly relatable main character, Jake. At times, he is hard to root for (procrastinator, a forever pessimist, lacking motivation), and yet that’s what makes him so relatable. I think we all expect to be successful when we “grow up,” and yet realize later that it’s not that easy. That’s exactly what Jake has gone through.

I also enjoy the author’s wit- a mix of sarcasm and realism. While this small portion of the book hasn’t brought the reader into “the plot” (no pun intended) of the book yet, it’s still easy to tell that the character descriptions alone will keep you interested.

The cover of the book is both beautiful and mysterious. It’s simple but the imagery within the words shows the reader that the words within the book are anything but simple.

I look forward to finishing this book eventually, and learning what becomes of Jake’s struggling writing career and lackluster approach to teaching.
