This book had an interesting premise. It was not a sub-genre of historical fiction that I have really read before this book. I remember thinking the first impression was not great but good enough to want to try it out. Well, this book as it turns out was just really not my cup of tea. I didn't necessarily think it was a bad book. I just did not find it a quick read for myself. I still thought the general story premise was intriguing, and it did make me want to learn and read more about this era and specific practice of picture brides. However, I just did not find myself connecting with the main character Willow. It was not that I did not find her story compelling. I just could not feel like I resonated with her. I could not imagine what that would feel like to be promised so much and take this journey only to face that disappointment. I would recommend to people who like these types of reads.
