I love the setting and the story. I really like the cover and that is what first attracted me to this book. It looks painted and has a soothing appearance. I was interested in the characters and felt they were well rounded and well described. Their needs and reasoning for their actions was understandable which I believe is a difficult thing for a writer to accomplish. Not all writers understand how to make relatable but this author did just that. The setting is beautifully described and I felt like I was right there with the characters. I can understand the desire to move to Hawaii (and often times have wished I could move there myself). The writing is well paced and I felt interested the whole time. The only real issue for me is that I rarely read historical fiction so I am not sure I am the best audience. I enjoyed it for sure but it is a stretch for me with the genre.
