I find the premise of this book very intriguing. I have never read any historical fiction about Korean immigration to Hawai'i or picture brides so the subject drew me in.
However, the writing seemed a bit meandering in the first few chapters and the style left the reader at a distance from the characters. This wasn't bad, per se, I was still interested enough to keep reading and I might get drawn in more as the story progresses.
