The Picture Bride is a story about a section of time that is not usually talked about. The " mail order bride" offered poor Asain families a way to send off their young women to Hawaii as a way to bypass the law of immigration to mainland United States. Most women has no idea if what would actually await them once they reached the shores of Hawaii. I love when historical fiction sheds truth on a subjuct that more people shoud be aware of.
