This book addresses several important topics. Almost all of them related to LGBTQIAP+ people and equality. 15 year old Spencer just wants to make it through the school year without anymore bullying. He had to leave his last school because of transphobic bullies, but he's determined to make this year better. His parents make this harder by banning him from joining the boy's soccer team, but Spencer knows having a team will make everything better.
Every time I picked this book up, I didn't want to put it down. I'm so happy more books with trans narrators are being published, especially intersectional ones like this. Seeing more trans books being published makes me incredibly happy as a genderqueer person. I hope we continue to see more books like this, across all genres, become even more popular.
