Honestly, this was a great example of writing queer and trans youth done right. It was super fast paced and witty which I thought went well with the way it shows how much of a whirlwind teenage years are. Every plot point was there for a reason and it made for a really strong plot. It was fun and interesting and heartbreaking at some parts and resonant. I mean, sure, some of it's a little cliche but I liked it. It felt like all of the best parts of the YA coming of age genre all rolled together and it was super fun to read! And I absolutely adored the strong representation in a lot of different realms! Queer characters, POC characters, trans characters, and neruodivergent characters were all written with compassion, empathy and humanity. I absolutely adore this as a debut and can't wait to see what the author does next. I will definitely have to keep this one on the radar when looking at new releases!!!
