I'm excited to read more!
The Passing Playbook is a contemporary LGBTQ+ romance, and is definitely going to initiate great discussions. I read around the first 40 pages, and really liked the writing style. Trigger warnings: Some violence, transphobia, and homophobia)
Spencer is in a brand-new school for his sophomore year, and after "The Incident" at his former school, he is hoping to have a good year. Spencer is a transgender boy, and there are scenes related to hormonal changes and body image that were very well-handled by the author.
Spencer, his family, and his friends were well-developed characters, and I liked the sweetness of how he interacted with his parents and his younger brother Theo. It's a very emotional book, from what I read, and it's clear to me that reading this book will educate people about what being transgender is about.
I'm looking forward to reading more of The Passing Playbook!
