What a sweet story! This is a book everyone should read. It’s full of hope for trans kids (and adults) everywhere. In a time when many states are creating anti-trans legislation, we need books like THE PASSING PLAYBOOK to remind us that there are brave trans people and true allies, and together we can create change and fight against the system.
This book is very much a sports contemporary (soccer, my favorite) YA MLM romance, too. It isn’t all about trans rights, but that’s definitely the heart of the story.
I also loved how supportive Spencer’s family was but that it was a journey for them, too. This book never gets too cheesy or preachy. It felt very authentic overall from the dialogue to the wide range of emotions.
I can’t wait for everyone to read this book after it releases on June 1. Perfect timing for Pride month.
