The Passing Playbook reads almost like She's the Man, but with a more sensitive and realistic portrayal of a transgender teen, Spencer. He's beginning his sophomore year of high school and Oakley and struggling to navigate the world of first crushes, new classes, and soccer tryouts.
The jacket cover doesn't reveal that the main character is transgender, which I think could be useful for the book. Overall, this was a pleasant read and would be really great for a younger YA reader.
