From the cover, this novel looks like a typical YA novel. It starts out pretty typically as well - a boy joining a new school after having trouble at his last. When it becomes apparent that Spencer is different than all the other kids because he's transgender, a bond with him has already been formed. Relatively easy reading makes for a light approach to important and relevant issues. An interesting start to a good story!
