A story of obsession and possibly discovery
I was instantly pulled into the inner world of grocery clerk Abby and what seems to be her obsession with a former classmate who became a famous actress. Abby is stuck in their small town, going nowhere, watching her former best friend Elise's glamorous life via magazines. Their ten-year high school reunion brings the two together again.
I can't wait to read more about what happens when Abby arrives in Los Angeles and reconnects with Elise. The first-person narrative connects the reader to Abby's thoughts and motives, which appear to be obsessive and perhaps dangerous.
The cover of this book is gorgeous - the monotoned illustration of a woman with her head exploding with color and activity is a clue to what waits between the covers.
