When I first saw the description for 'The Painted Art Journal' I expected it to be more of a guided how-to for painting styles and techniques. An introduction if you would.

However, what I found in the sample was SO. MUCH. MORE.
Jeanne Oliver takes her personal journey of self-discovery through mixed-media art and helps you to establish your own space to do the same.

She walks you through everything from materials and set-up to practice and execution. I would first be tempted to call this the 'definitive guide', but I have never seen anything quite like it before. Instead, I would call this the seminal work on introspective art journaling.

I don't know that this would be the journaling approach for me, I'm more of a checklist, bullet journal, linear type who is trying to exercise my creative mind. But this is the perfect resource for anyone who wants to dive into the deep end of creative self-discovery. OR- anyone looking to build an art portfolio.

It's never too late to learn more about yourself, and it's fantastic to finally have a resource for those who don't fit the standard 'productivity journal' mold.
