This book is primarily aimed at helping one put together the bits and pieces that make an individual's story, then translating that story into art. I have been eagerly anticipating this chance to preview the book because I have only just begun to dabble in a form of abstract art, and the idea of creating an art journal was really intriguing.

However, this looks to be a worthy addition to anyone's bookshelf and would make an outstanding gift for family and friends...because it is primarily about telling a story that is genuinely authentic through a process of introspection, research, collection, sorting, and then displaying the artifacts, so that the creative process truly reflects the artists.

There is a helpful list of basic supplies, with a heavy emphasis on using what you've got--who knew rust could be used in art?

Best of all, in my opinion, was the idea of a ritual before beginning to create. But there is no 'one way' or 'one size fits all' method to employ.

I wish I had this book when I was teaching English, as I think it would have been a great prelude to actually writing one's story, especially for visual learners.

I can't wait to get my hands on a copy so I can see the entire process.
