There are a million pyschological thrillers out there. So, why read this one? Well, first, holy heck, did not see that coming. Second, how often is the mother portrayed as a potential villian. I certainly was questioning why Emily kept sticking it out with the ups and downs of her relationship with Adam. And frankly, all the members of Adam's family seemed a bit wacky and damaged. This is probably why the ending surprised me a bit. You will alternately find yourself shaking your head and telling Emily, just MOVE ON, but you will also find yourself rooting for her tenacity. The question becomes is she stubborn or just plain stupid. Well, you will have to read the whole thing and then come to your own conclusions....
