It almost feels like a spoiler to say to go into this book as blind as possible. I read so many mysteries/thrillers/domestic dramas that I tend to find most these days pretty run of the mill, but this one was a really delightful surprise. In full truth, I found the beginning a bit slow, the middle a bit rushed, and the ending worth all the wait. Emily is a bit of a struggle to understand- it's never clear if she lacks confidence or if she's really just fully convinced that her relationship with Adam is worth the immense trauma of having Pammie as a mother-in-law. There were so many moments that caused me to cringe in embarrassment or sympathy for Emily- Sandie Jones has written in Pammie everyone's worst nightmare of a mother-in-law, and it's amazing how well she managed to do this without Pammie seeming like a caricature.
