When I first picked up this book, I was expecting a Crazy Rich Asians inspired mother-in-law, and I wasn't disappointed. Everything, just made me hate Pammie as well as the main character. I can only credit that to how well the author described them. Pammie is the typical mother-in-law you see often in korean dramas, the mother-in-law ready to go to war to keep her son, full of seemingly innocent quips. Honestly, I was frustrated with the main character that she didn't dump the guy after learning the character of his mother. Emily's self esteem was low and I found myself disgusted with her for not leaving him. However, I know that I was only able to come to these emotions because of how adept the author was in her descriptions. All I must say now is wow I did not expect that ending! I can't wait for more!
