After reading the first several chapters on Bookishfirst, I was excited to read the ARC I received. As a debut novel, Sandie Jones entices the readers to learn more about Adam and Emily. Then there is Emily’s future mother-in-law who the reader wants to hate. There is also James, Adam’s younger brother who seems interested in Emily. Sandie Jones sets up characters with all the right ingredients to get the reader asking, “What is going to happen?” In my opinion, the story falls apart. I lost interest as Emily just seemed stuck in the same predicament over and over. Then, everything is somewhat resolved in a few pages. What started as a “brewing tempest in a teapot,” ended very flat and making this reader wonder why she kept reading.
