I wanted to love this one because so many people I know did. But for me it was too predictable and the not at all surprising. And the abuse storyline which is the focus of the plot was not fun to read.
When I read a mystery book I want it to be full or twists, turns, shocks and surprises. I want to be kept guessing as to how it will end. I want to question all the characters' motives and wonder who the "bad guy" is. When I read a mystery book, I want to feel some fear. Maybe be a bit repulsed. I want the book to keep me up late at night because I am too worried for the characters to go to sleep.
None of that happened with this one. I knew from almost page one where the book was going.
