I wanted so badly to love this book, but the main character irritated me to no end! A lot of her actions seemed unbelievable and the whole "unstable female thriller" troupe is wearing on me. I kept wanting to take the main character by the shoulders and shake some confidence into her. While I don't doubt that there are women out there that repeatedly make decisions despite bad outcomes staring them in the face, I just couldn't find her actions believable. I didn't see the twist at the end coming, so I must give credit there. Also, the overall story had good bones; it just wasn't fleshed out in a way that made sense to me. Honestly, I think hearing the full story from the mother's point of view throughout the novel might have been more enjoyable.
