The Other Woman is a 'monster-in-law' story that just didn't cut it for me. The skinny of the plot comes down to our female MC with a history of bad relationships finally meeting THE ONE, only to find out that he is weirdly protective of his mother (VERY early red flags that MC just ignores...and we don't know why) and she is also devilishly out to kill the relationship by gaslighting her future daughter-in-law. It's a relatively short book, but from the start, and I literally mean the first page, the writing was confusing, disjointed, and downright contradictory. It was very hard to connect with the characters or find any of their choices believable because there was hardly any time spent on substantial backstory. Consistently throughout the story, I couldn't understand the MC's motivations because there simply wasn't character evidence to back them up. The ending happened in the last 20 pages and twists went through the very end. I'm not against twists at all, but I don't appreciate when authors take you on a weird ride and then just reveal all the things in the epilogue. Feels cheap to me. Didn't like this one and to be honest, I'm hesitant to read anything else from this author.
