Wow, do I have whiplash.
To be quite frank, it took me a day of reading on and off to chug through the first few chapters and be pulled into the story, but once the pace picked up it had it's hooks in me for sure. I had a difficult time wrapping my head around Emily's motives and overall thought process, but I guess we don't really know how we will act in a certain situation until it presents itself to us. Once the story got moving, I finished the book in less than a day. It had what I liked, a storybook villainous mother-in-law and a man seemingly clueless to his own mother's faults. But that ending, WOW. Did not see that coming. When that twist slapped me in the face I had to put my kindle down for a moment to catch my breath. The only thing that threw me off a bit was how quickly everything happened in the end, which kind of made it a bit unbelievable. But since the entire book jumps places and times pretty abruptly to highlight the most defining points of the lead couple's relationship it flowed pretty nicely and there were no loose ends. I did enjoy reading this book, however, and look forward to more book releases!
